No child should be denied safety because of cost

alien legal aid is a Nebraska nonprofit dedicated to protecting immigrant youth in foster care, and those recovered from trafficking.

We eliminate immigration barriers by covering the newly imposed USCIS filing fees that stand between vulnerable children and safety. Whether a youth is navigating foster care or has just been recovered in a trafficking raid, we step in to ensure their immigration filings are submitted, so they can remain in the U.S., access protection, and help bring perpetrators to justice.

These fees, ranging from $85 to over $1,200, were introduced in July 2025 and now apply to all applications. For many youth, they are the final obstacle to legal status, protection, and stability.

We are not political. We don’t litigate, lobby, or take sides. We exist to fill a practical gap, because no child should be denied safety due to cost.

What We Do

We pay the exact USCIS filing fees required for immigrant youth in Nebraska to apply for:

  • DACA renewals

  • Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)

  • Green card applications

  • Work permits

  • Other humanitarian protections

We work directly with caseworkers, the government, attorneys, and child welfare professionals to verify eligibility and pay fees quickly, so youth don’t lose protection due to financial delays.

We also respond to trafficking cases in real time. When children are recovered in raids or investigations, we to ensure immigration filings are submitted immediately, protecting the child and supporting prosecution efforts.

We don’t litigate. We don’t lobby. We simply remove the financial barrier.
